Pourquoi Halloween se prépare déjà… dès le mois de juillet 🎃

Why Halloween is already being prepared... starting in July 🎃

Why is Halloween already being prepared in July? 🎃

When summer holidays begin, our workshop is already thinking about pumpkins, spellbooks, mysterious potions, and long autumn evenings.

This may seem early, almost strange... and yet, for candle makers, Halloween is prepared long before the first fallen leaves arrive.

Every year, the same question comes up: “Halloween already? But it's only July!”

Yes, already. Because an artisanal collection is not born in a few days. It is dreamed up, tested, corrected, scented, narrated... and only then does it reach your hands.

🕯️1. It all starts with an atmosphere

Before even pouring a single candle, the universe must be imagined. At Les Fondeurs d’Histoires, a fragrance is never just a smell: it's a scene, an emotion, a setting.

For Halloween, we think of a forgotten library, a foggy forest, an apothecary's cabinet, an old manor, a dark potion, or a spellbook that has remained closed for too long.

The first trials often begin with a selection of scented samples.

🧪2. Choosing a fragrance takes time

A scent can be magnificent on an olfactory strip and much more subtle once incorporated into the wax. Conversely, a fragrance that seems simple at first can reveal all its richness after several days of maturation.

That's why we test fragrances at several stages:

  • cold, before manufacturing;
  • in vegetable wax;
  • during combustion;
  • after several days of rest;
  • then after several weeks of maturation.

The little workshop secret ✨

A candle is never judged solely on the day it is made. It needs time to stabilize to understand its true potential.

🔥3. Testing is essential

Once the fragrance is chosen, the real work begins. Each candle must be precisely tested to achieve good diffusion, a stable flame, and a pleasant user experience.

We adjust the fragrance dosage, incorporation temperature, pouring temperature, wick, wax behavior, and hot throw quality.

Candles go through several testing phases before being validated.

📜4. A collection must also tell a story

For us, Halloween is not just a pumpkin on a label. We want to create a true atmosphere.

This requires working on names, visuals, texts, product sheets, photos, videos, packaging, and the small touches that make the collection immersive.

Every detail counts. Even before lighting the candle, you should already feel that a story is beginning.

📦5. Raw materials must be anticipated

Autumn is a very busy period for candle makers. Fragrances, containers, wicks, or packaging can quickly become unavailable.

Preparing Halloween in July therefore allows us to secure raw materials, manufacture calmly, and avoid rushed decisions.

🌙6. An artisanal candle needs rest

After manufacturing, a candle must rest. This maturation period allows the vegetable wax and fragrance to stabilize better.

It's a discreet but essential step to achieve a more harmonious diffusion during the first uses.

Why don't we rush things?

Because a successful candle is not just about a beautiful appearance. It's a stable flame, a balanced scent, and an experience that lasts.

🍂7. Being ready before the season

When September arrives, many are just starting to think about autumn. For us, a large part of the work must already be completed.

This then allows us to dedicate ourselves to markets, orders, interactions with our community, and the final touches of the collection.

🖤Behind every candle, there are months of work

When you discover our Halloween collection, you might see a pretty candle. We, however, will see hours of trials, choices, corrections, failures sometimes, and above all, a lot of passion.

That's the whole difference between a carefully thought-out creation and a production launched at the last minute.

What about you?

Did you know that candle makers start preparing for Halloween at the beginning of summer?

Tell us what universe you'd like to discover this year: an old manor, an enchanted forest, an apothecary's cabinet... or something even more mysterious? 🎃
