Why L'Empreinte 1892 became our signature candle

Some creations are born in a few days. Others take months to find their place. And then there are those that seem to have always existed. This is exactly what happened with L'Empreinte 1892.

From the early days of Les Fondeurs d'Histoires, we wanted to create much more than a scented candle. We wanted to imagine a creation capable of summarizing everything that makes up our world: old books, apothecary cabinets, fragrances that tell a story, forgotten objects that seem to have transcended time.

But a story was still missing. Not a story invented to accompany a fragrance. A story capable of giving meaning to each note, to each detail, to each emotion.

It all started with a question

What if a fragrance had actually existed more than a century ago... And what if it had disappeared with the one who created it? This idea haunted us for weeks.

Little by little, a character appeared.

• His name.
• His workshop.
• His notebooks.
• His research.
• His failures.

Then this date: 1892. From that moment on, everything built up almost naturally. We were no longer simply writing a story. We were discovering the life of Théodore Bramant, as if his notes already existed somewhere.

A creation conceived as a true narrative

At Les Fondeurs d'Histoires, each fragrance has its own universe. But for this creation, we wanted to go much further.

• Each chapter of its story had to correspond to an element of the fragrance.
• Every visible object had to have a reason for being.
• Every detail had to seem authentic.
• The old botanical treatise.
• The vial hidden in the pages.
• The resins.
• The manuscripts.
• The silent workshop.

Even the name of the creation had to evoke what Bramant had been seeking for years: to leave something behind. Not just a simple fragrance.

A legacy.

Our most personal creation

Over the months, we understood something. This candle was unlike any other. It also reflected our own vision of Les Fondeurs d'Histoires.

We don't just want to make candles.

• Emotions.

Objects that we keep because they tell a story. That's why L'Empreinte 1892 naturally became our signature creation. It embodies everything that has inspired us since day one.

Summer still belongs to our luminous fragrances, to evenings on the terrace, to travels and to summery scents.

When the first days of September begin to slow down the pace, we will gently open the doors to a deeper, more enveloping universe, where stories take their full place.

And it is then that L'Empreinte 1892 will finally reveal its secret. Because some stories are worth waiting for. And some imprints remain in memories for a long time.
