The brief

You present your project: objective, target audience, estimated volume, budget, launch date and any constraints. We will respond within 48 working hours with our initial questions and feasibility assessment.

Creative avenues and costing

We propose several olfactory and visual directions, with a detailed quote item by item: fragrance, container, labeling, engraving, packaging, regulatory documentation and logistics.

Fragrance development

If the project includes an exclusive fragrance, we work with our master perfumer in Grasse. Several iterations are usually necessary before validation, with samples sent at each stage.

The prototype

We produce a complete prototype, including container, wax, wick, label and packaging. You receive it, light it, handle it. Nothing replaces having the product in hand.

Combustion tests

This is the step that rushed service providers skip, and the one that explains most unpleasant surprises. We control wick performance, wax pool formation, absence of tunneling, cold and hot throw, as well as color stability. This phase usually takes several weeks.

Validation and regulatory file

You validate the final product in writing. In parallel, we compile the documentation file: CLP labeling, safety data sheets and UFI numbers where applicable.

Production and delivery

Pouring, curing, finishing, labeling, unit control and packaging. We keep you informed of progress and agree together on the shipping method, either in one go or in staggered deliveries.

Compliance and regulatory documentation 📜

This is often the sticking point for a personalized candle project. With us, it's addressed from the quote stage, not after production.

A scented candle is a regulated product. If you market it under your brand, responsibility for compliance falls to you as the market introducer. We therefore provide you with all the necessary elements to market it with peace of mind.

📋 CLP Labeling

Labels compliant with the European regulation on the classification, labeling and packaging of substances and mixtures: pictograms, hazard and precautionary statements, declarable allergens and manufacturer's contact details.

🧪 Safety Data Sheets (SDS)

We provide SDS corresponding to the fragrances used in your production. These are the documents your distributors, insurers and, where applicable, regulatory authorities will request.

🔢 UFI numbers

When the fragrance concerned requires one, the UFI number (unique formula identifier, linked to the declaration to poison control centers) is communicated to you and reported on the labeling.

⚠️ Safety instructions

Each creation is accompanied by usage instructions: first burn, maximum duration, wick size, placement surface and safety distances.

To be honest, let's say it upfront. We are not an industrial manufacturer: we don't produce tens of thousands of pieces in a few days, and we're not looking to do so.

Our value lies elsewhere: in controlled series, the level of finish, narrative coherence, and a contact person who knows your project by heart. If your project exceeds our capabilities, we will tell you right from the first exchange rather than making you lose three weeks.

Is there a minimum order quantity?

We do not set a single threshold, as our productions are truly custom-made. The relevant volume depends on the level of customization chosen: a simple branding of an existing fragrance can be launched with small series, whereas a fragrance specially created in Grasse requires a larger volume to be economically viable. Tell us your target volume and your budget, and we will frankly tell you what is achievable.

What are your production lead times?

They depend on the volume, the level of customization, and the availability of containers. A branding project is significantly faster than an exclusive olfactory creation, which involves several back-and-forths with the perfumer followed by several weeks of burning tests. We will provide you with a precise schedule with the quote, and we will adhere to it.

Can we create a completely unique fragrance?

Yes. We work with a master perfumer based in Grasse. We convey to them your universe, your references, and your intentions, then we proceed by iterations until we achieve the exact desired scent. This option requires more time and a larger volume, but it gives you an olfactory signature that is uniquely yours.

Do you provide regulatory documents?

Yes, systematically. We provide labeling compliant with the CLP regulation, safety data sheets corresponding to the fragrances used, as well as UFI numbers when the fragrance concerned requires one. These elements are provided to you with the production and allow you to market your products in compliance.

Can we sell these candles under our own brand?

Yes, white labeling is part of our services. The product may not include any mention of our brand, apart from the legal information related to manufacturing which must appear on the label. We discuss this from the brief to construct the labeling accordingly.

Are you insured and registered?

Yes. Les Fondeurs d'Histoires is a company registered in France and covered by professional civil liability insurance. The SIRET number, the insurance certificate, and our professional sales conditions are provided to you with the quote.

Do we receive a sample before production?

Yes, no project goes into production without validation of a complete prototype. You receive the finished product as it will be manufactured, with its container, label, and packaging, so you can light it and handle it before committing.

Do you also make custom scented wax melts?

Yes, and this is often an excellent option for boxes and bulk shipments: lighter, less fragile, less expensive to ship, while carrying the same fragrance and universe as the candle.

Where are the products manufactured?

Entirely in our workshop in Loctudy, in southern Finistère, Brittany, France. Pouring, labeling, engraving, and packaging are all done by hand there. You can tell your customers the same, with supporting evidence.

Do you work all over France?

Yes, we support professionals all over France and in a large part of Europe. Exchanges are remote, and logistics are organized with you, in a single shipment or staggered deliveries according to your needs.
