Scented candle or wax melt: which to choose?
It's one of the questions we get asked most often in workshops or messages: should you choose a candle, or rather a scented wax melt? The real answer is that it depends on what you're looking for, not whether one product is better than the other. Here’s how to decide. 🕯️
What truly sets them apart
A candle burns with its own wick, diffusing its scent as it burns down, until the wax is gone. A wax melt, however, has no wick: it’s placed in the dish of a warmer, heated by a tea light or a bulb, and it's the heat that releases the fragrance without ever burning the wax itself.

Why choose a candle
If you love the complete ritual, the one where you take five minutes to light a flame and watch the ambiance change, a candle is essential. It provides a warm light that no wax melt can replicate, and it has an almost ceremonial dimension: an action you repeat every evening until it becomes automatic.
Why choose a wax melt
Wax melts are often more economical to use, and they allow you to adjust the scent intensity according to the room size or your sensitivity to smells. It's also the most practical solution if you have young children or pets at home, as there's no open flame involved. And for the curious, nothing prevents you from testing several scents at once in the same dish.

Like our candles, our wax melts are also hand-poured in our workshop in Loctudy, never cut from a block. We heat the wax, weigh the fragrances to the nearest gram, then pour each square individually before letting it harden.
Most of our creations are available in both formats, so you can test them before choosing your side, or simply keep both.
